Raven is second generation Filipino, and fourth generation Scandinavian. A Mother of four young sons, raised by the Ocean in the Coast Salish Islands. She has been blessed to have been taught drum craft in the traditional ways. Her highest creative calling at this moment is lapidary stonework, drum making and the traditional tanning of sheepskin pelts. These crafts have been courted throughout her journey and by the gift of transmission in these crafts. Shining a guiding light from the lineages and to offer their wisdom and transformative experiences on this Earth. Raven's matriarchal lineage comes from the healers of the Philippines Islands. She has been bestowed the rights of passage from Mambabatok Apo Whang-Od of the Kalinga tribe.

"Gratitude to my teachers who introduced me to drum circle visioning and was then given my first drum by Patrick Pinson of Cedar Mountain Drums in 2013, to Jorge “Two Eagles” Lewis a Coast Salish Drum Maker, to Maria Rose Sikyea, Dené Indigenous Mother, who taught me how to tan hides many moons ago.

An enduring living force has guided me through the hands and heart of these precious beings and I take this moment to give reverence for these Beloveds, Mambabatok Whang-Od and the late Palo Martin Huff.

Apo Whang-Od is a Traditional Kalinga Tattoo Master in the high mountain terraces of Buscalan, Luzon, Philippines. In 2014 I was given my Batok by Apo and today she is an incredible and lively 107 years old! My matriarchal line comes from the islands of the Philippines and I cherish these moments with the grandmothers very deeply. Salamat (sa·la·mat) for honoring this moment in Gratitude.

To my Beloved teacher and friend, Palo~ I love you! The stones have brought us together time and time again. Each turn of the bead in my hand I feel you. You are always in my Heart, in communion from the heavenly realms, guiding the way through. Giving new life and meaning to the stones, imbibed in the ways of our Ancestors. My meditation of carving is an Ode to you and what you have reminded me of in the ways of Heart and Hand. I’ll always remember your songs and smile as I turn the stones to reveal the gem whose shine reflects within."
